What is 8ns?

8ns is a privacy focussed Domain Name Responder Service.
We are currently planning different services for modern, private and secure advanced name resolution services.
8ns complety operates from and within the EU legislation and the coverage of GDPR.

8ns offers a dynamic DNS service which allows you

- registering a short and easily rememberable domain name (or host name)
- updating the domain name with a very simple web request (API documentation LINK)
- use TTLs as low as 60 seconds (which means in less than a minute your IP address will be up to date world wide)
- use a system of redundant name servers as authoritative source for your hostname
- update IPv4 and IPv6 records (A and AAAA) individually or with one request
- keep your data as private as possible*

*we value your privacy. Our service is designed so that it uses as few PII a possible:

- we do not log or keep track of the IP addresses that have been suspect to your domain name(s) (we keep them until you update, of course)
- you can set your record to an arbritrary IP address, so if you like 8.8.8.8 e.g.
- we do NOT log
- if your "actual" IP was used or where the request came from
- any IP addresses, token, or anything else regarding the "normal" use of the service
- we do not need your
- name, address, phone number, birth date et cetera for running this service, so we do not ask for them neither do we store them
- we need to store an email-address, though to send (a new) auth token to you in case you forget it
- you might use a one time mailing service if you so like - be aware your hostname might be lost forever if you do not remember your auth-token
- we do not store your auth token, only do we store a hash value of it
- we do not use cookies, javascript or any sophisticated tracking technology whatsoever
- in case of client side errors (e.g. bad auth token) we log and store the ip address for up to two weeks, so that we can track down issues and block misuse of the service
- 8ns does not make use of services from companies outside the EU or under control of foreign ownership
